This page will be about the Excel 2 project that was completed this spring semester of 2024 in ISM 3011. This project required students to reinforce their knowledge of previous Excel skills by recalling their previous skills learned in the past two projects. Furthermore, the students needed to create a way to find information efficiently. In the project, the students were given state data and needed to create an Excel project that satisfied all the requirements.
The goal of this project is to help students practice their foundation in Excel skills that they learned previously, with some additional skills added. For example, like slider filters in order to show specific information wanted from the pivot table, create codes, and make sure that the worksheets know how to work together so that the information can be easily understood.
For this project, directions were given to guide the way through the project, but the majority of them depended on the students recalling information from previous projects. For example, how to use the VLookup function. This project is a great way for the students to solidify their skills.
With this Excel 2 project, I learned that I need to spend more time checking my work, especially focusing on my formulas, because there were some mistakes made throughout them, but overall, they show accurate information that is needed. With this project, another area that I had an issue with was figuring out how to get text to stay wrapped in cells even if the cell size was changed, but at the end of the project, I was able to figure out how to do this function on Excel. I learned a new cool skill, which is a slider filter, which I never knew Excel could do. This project tested my skills and made me realize I needed to be more careful of what I did.
